Does anal sex need extra strong condoms?
Are normal thickness condoms less protective during anal sex that they are more likely to break?
There have been quantity of studies of condom failure (breakages, slipping off, etc.) in gay men. The gay male couples who had been randomized to use either standard or thicker condoms for anal sex and additional water-based lubricants. Each couples provided with nine condoms and completed a questionnaire after each sexual action.
The researchers found that condoms broke for the same reasons as previously identified in studies among hetero sexual couples: unrolling the condom before fitting it to the penis, longer duration of intercourse and absence of additional lubricant. Use of additional incorrect lubricant (oil-based orsaliva) was also influence with condom breakage. Penis length is also associated with condom breakage, yet circumstance is not.
The study found no significant differences between the two types of condoms with respect to breakage or slipping. Condoms were more likely to slip if lubricantsis placed on the penis under the condoms. A low incidence of breakage was reported for both condom types during appropriate use.
Based on this research, Standard-strength condoms are just as reliable for anal sexas extra-strength condoms, and other HIV agencies stopped recommending the use of extra-strong condoms. As an OEM condoms factory, we can supply you both normal condoms and extra strong condoms. Email: linda@oemcondoms.com
